Giving Anniversary Flowers: The RIGHT Flower For Any Anniversary!
Giving flowers for a wedding anniversary is a great way to celebrate this special occasion. Let's face it -- in this day and age, any wedding anniversary is certainly a reason to get excited (people simply aren't staying together like they used to!). When faced with the questions... What wedding anniversary flowers should I give? What are the best wedding anniversary flowers? ... I have always asked back... "What did the bride carry in her wedding bouquet?" This is always a great place to start when looking for the perfect wedding anniversary flowers. Try to find a picture from the wedding and, if appropriate, re-create the feeling of romance by giving these flowers (this is definitely the type of flower arrangement a husband should give to his wife). Taking the time and remembering what she bouquet she carried on her wedding day (even if you have to cheat and look at photos) shows that you care and how sentimental you truely are. But if you are a friend or relative of a couple celebrating an anniversary there are lots of options for you as well. Picking out a nice vase arrangement of fresh flowers is always a good choice and I find that these flowers will last longer. Keep in mind a price range when you order. However, if you request a mixture of blooms and colours the florist can quite easily fill your order. If you want something that is a little more eleborate and if you can remember... send flowers native to wherever the couple spent their honeymoon. Of course this works the best if their honeymoon destination was a tropical island or resort. Again a vase arrangement works great -- and then have your florist fill it with typical flowers such as birds of paradise, ginger, or beautiful orchids (my favourite right now are the lime green cymbinium orchids).
One more idea... There are individual flowers that correspond with each year of marriage. For example, if you (or the people you are buying the anniversary flowers for) have been married for 6 years, then the flower that corresponds with that number of years of marriage is the calla lily (I've provided a complete list of flowers and their corresponding anniversaries here!) If you do decide to go this route, keep this in mind... Not many people know their anniversary flower, so be sure to send along a note along to explain your selection.
